WWB at Energy OutWest Conference 2024: Expanding Global Collaboration for Energy Efficiency
This August, we had the honor of participating in the Energy OutWest Conference 2024, held August 21–23 in Austin, Texas. Our CEO, Nicolás Maggio, represented Weatherizers Without Borders (WWB) at this gathering of hundreds of weatherization professionals, energy efficiency experts, and housing advocates from across the United States and beyond.
Hosted at the Hilton Austin, the event featured a robust agenda of technical trainings, policy discussions, and networking sessions, all geared towards improving residential energy performance and housing conditions for low-income communities.
As WWB we were invited to share our unique Latin American perspective on Building Science and equitable energy practices. Nicolás Maggio joined a featured panel alongside:
- Anthony Cox
- Chase Counts
- Caleb Simon

The panel showcased our role in advancing energy efficiency and healthy homes globally, building bridges between U.S. and Latin American approaches to weatherization.
In addition to sharing technical expertise and community-centered methodologies, as WWB we used the opportunity to:
- Strengthen ties with U.S. state programs and agencies, including those from Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, and Vermont.
- Learn from leading field practitioners through sessions like “Moisture & Building Durability,” “Advanced Air Sealing,” and “Weatherization Data & Impact Metrics.”
- Promote international cooperation by showcasing the potential of cross-border knowledge exchange in tackling energy poverty.

Being included in such a high-profile lineup reflects the growing recognition of our contribution to sustainable housing transformation in underserved regions.
Reflecting on the experience, Nicolás Maggio shared: “We are proud to bring Latin American experience to the global table and to build partnerships that help ensure no one is left behind in the transition to efficient, healthy homes.”
